Nestled high in the Garhwal Himalayas, the Dodital – Darwa Pass Trek is one of the most scenic and soul-stirring treks in North India. Sitting at
an altitude of around 13,600 ft, Dodital Lake is believed to be the birthplace of Lord Ganesha and named after the rare Himalayan trout known
locally as Dodi.
This trek combines mythological charm, alpine beauty, and tranquil forest trails — making it a must-do experience for both beginners and
seasoned trekkers. From crystal-clear lakes to snow-dusted passes, each step of the journey unfolds a new side of Uttarkashi’s wild and spiritual
landscape.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Dehradun > Uttarkashi > Agoda Village (Base Camp)
Your adventure begins with a scenic drive from Dehradun to Agoda Village, the base camp of the trek. The route winds through Mussoorie and
Dhanaulti, offering mesmerizing views of the Bhagirathi River and pine-covered valleys. From Sangamchatti, the confluence of Assi Ganga and
Varna rivers, a short dirt trail takes you up to Agoda — a peaceful Himalayan village surrounded by dense oak and pine forests.
Enjoy your first evening at base camp, meet your trek leader, and settle in for a cozy mountain night.
Day 2: Agoda > Manjhi > Dodital Lake
After breakfast, begin your ascent towards Dodital. The trail gradually climbs through lush oak and rhododendron forests, with small mountain
streams crossing your path. After passing the picturesque village of Manjhi, the route opens into serene meadows before revealing the turquoise
waters of Dodital Lake — a sight that instantly makes the journey worthwhile.
Camp by the lake surrounded by dense pine and bamboo trees, and enjoy a peaceful evening under the stars.
Day 3: Dodital > Darwa Pass > Return to Dodital
This is the most challenging and rewarding day of the trek. We start early and climb towards Darwa Pass (13,616 ft), which remains
snow-covered for most of the year. The trail is steep but offers panoramic views of majestic Himalayan peaks like Bandarpoonch, Srikanth, Deoli,
and Draupadi Ka Danda.
After soaking in the views, descend back to Dodital camp for an evening of rest and warm food.
Day 4: Dodital > Agoda Village (Descent)
After breakfast, start your descent back to Agoda, following the same scenic trail. Enjoy your last glimpses of the lake and forests,
sharing stories and laughter as you retrace your steps through the rhododendron and oak woods. Relax at Agoda by evening,
followed by a farewell dinner with the team.
Day 5: Agoda > Uttarkashi > Dehradun (Drive)
After breakfast, begin your return journey to Dehradun. The drive takes around 9 hours, offering one last chance to enjoy the mountain views.
We recommend planning your onward travel the next day, as mountain roads can often be unpredictable
