Overview
Hidden at 3,600 m in the heart of the Himalayas, the Valley of Flowers is one of India’s most enchanting high-altitude landscapes. Surrounded by towering snow peaks, this vibrant valley comes alive every monsoon as thousands of alpine flowers bloom in waves of colour — from blues and yellows to pinks, reds, purples, and whites.
For centuries, the valley remained untouched and inaccessible during the harsh winters. But every summer, as the snow melted, the valley transformed into a painter’s paradise. This natural wonder was introduced to the world in 1931 when British mountaineer and botanist Frank Smythe stumbled upon it and later documented its beauty in his famous book “The Valley of Flowers.”
Declared a National Park in 1982 and later a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the valley is believed by locals to be home to fairies and divine spirits — a place where nature’s magic is at its purest.
With lush meadows, rare Himalayan flora, serene streams, and spectacular views of peaks like Hathi Parvat, Nilgiri, and Ghangharia ridge, this trek is a must-do for every nature lover, botanist, photographer, and Himalayan explorer.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Dehradun → Joshimath (Drive | 256 km | 10–11 hours)
Meet the team at Dehradun and begin the mountain drive towards Joshimath via Rishikesh. The journey offers breathtaking river views, hanging bridges, deep valleys, and lush forests.
The route crosses four of the famous Panch Prayags — Devprayag, Rudraprayag, Karnaprayag & Nandaprayag — each a confluence of sacred Himalayan rivers.
Reach Joshimath by evening and check into your hotel.
Day 2: Joshimath → Govindghat (Drive) → Ghangaria (Trek | 9 km | 5–6 hours)
After breakfast, drive to Govindghat, then continue to Pulna, the starting point of the trek.
The 9 km trek to Ghangaria follows a stone-paved trail beside the Pushpawati River, passing waterfalls, small food stalls, and stunning viewpoints.
