Gulabi Kantha Trek
About this trek
The Gulabi Kantha Trek is a lesser-known gem tucked away in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand. Sitting at an altitude of around 12,000–13,200 ft, it offers wide-open meadows, dubbed “Pink Meadows”, that glow with rhododendron blooms and wildflowers in the right season, along with panoramic views of peaks like Bandarpoonch, Trishul, Nanda Devi and Swargarohini.
Starting from Hanuman Chatti near Yamunotri, this easy-to-moderate trek takes you through quiet forests, traditional wooden villages and untouched bugyals, making it perfect for those who want a raw Himalayan experience without heavy crowds.

Itinerary
Drive from Dehradun towards the Yamunotri valley, following the Yamuna River and crossing hill towns and villages on the way. Reach Hanuman Chatti by evening and check into your stay. Use the rest of the day to relax, meet your trek leader and prepare for the climb ahead.
Start your trek from Hanuman Chatti, gradually climbing out of the valley through mixed forests and small village clearings. The trail gains height steadily as you approach Kandola Chhani — a traditional high-altitude settlement that serves as your first campsite. Settle into tents, enjoy evening tea and soak in the silence of the mountains.
Trek further into the high country as the forest thins out and open meadows begin to appear. The route to Seema Thatch undulates across gentle ridges and grassy slopes, offering improving views of surrounding peaks. Camp at Seema Thatch — a wide bugyal that sets you up perfectly for the summit day.
Start early for the summit push to Gulabi Kantha. The trail climbs across rolling meadows that, in season, are covered in pink rhododendron and wildflower blooms. From the high point, enjoy sweeping views of Bandarpoonch, Swargarohini, Nanda Devi and other Garhwal giants. Spend time taking photos and soaking in the landscape before descending back to Seema Thatch for the night.
Retrace your steps from Seema Thatch to Kandola Chhani and further down to Hanuman Chatti, enjoying the last views of the meadows and forests. After reaching Hanuman Chatti, board your vehicle for the drive back to Dehradun. Reach by evening with memories of quiet trails, pink meadows and big Himalayan vistas.
