Trek Safety

How we run batches from Uttarkashi — honestly, not as marketing copy.

Mountains are unpredictable. We are a small Uttarkashi-based operator (founded 2024–25), not a call-centre brand. This page explains what we actually do on trek — and what you should arrange yourself (insurance, fitness, gear).

Group size

We cap open batches at 18 trekkers so one lead guide can monitor pace, hydration and altitude symptoms. Private groups can be smaller; we still maintain minimum support staff for cooking and camp.

Guides and leadership

Treks are led by experienced local guides from Garhwal (see our team page). High-altitude routes like Kedartal and Gaumukh–Tapovan get senior leaders with repeated season experience on those exact trails.

Altitude and AMS

We build acclimatisation days into itineraries where altitude gain is serious. Guides carry a pulse oximeter on high routes. If headache, nausea or ataxia do not improve after rest and descent, we turn back — no summit at any cost.

Weather calls

Snow, landslides and river crossings are assessed daily. We may delay summit push, change camp location or abort a batch if conditions are unsafe. Deposits are handled per our booking terms when weather forces cancellation.

Equipment we provide

On camping treks: weather-appropriate tents, sleeping bags (typically rated to -10°C on winter routes), kitchen shelter, first-aid kit, ropes/microspikes where the route requires them. You bring broken-in shoes, layers and personal meds.

Emergency and evacuation

Evacuation is usually porter or pony assist to the nearest road, then vehicle to a clinic (Uttarkashi, Purola, Joshimath or Srinagar depending on trek). Helicopter rescue is not included in trek price — buy travel insurance that covers high-altitude trekking and chopper evacuation if you want that backup.

Communication

Expect no mobile data for most of multi-day treks. Before you leave base town, tell family your route and expected return date. Our office WhatsApp (+91 80577 82976 / +91 87933 77188) is for planning — not mid-trek emergency contact.

Your responsibility

Disclose asthma, heart conditions, recent surgery or pregnancy. Train with walking and stairs. Do not hide illness on trek. Alcohol at altitude increases AMS risk — we discourage it on active trekking days.
